Two of Arla Foods latest new products to hit the dairy industry have been nominated for the UK's Product of the Year Competition, which rewards the country's most innovative products.
Lactofree fresh milk, a lactose-free drink for people suffering from lactose intolerance and Apetina cheese cubes, the latest Arla Foods cheese brand are now being voted against others by the public for the top prize.
Between now and December over 12,500 people will place their vote, after a panel of industry experts and journalists chose Lactofree and Apetina to be put to the largest vote of its kind in the UK.
To enter the competition products need to have been launched in the past 18 months. There are various categories in the awards and Arla's Lactofree brand will compete in the drinks category and Apetina will compete with other dairy products in the convenience category.
"Getting through the first stage of the competition alone means we are raising awareness of our products among the 12,500 voters, which is great news for both brands," said Jon Thompson, cheese controller in the commercial division.
Arun Prabhu, innovation and insight manager, added: "To win Product of the Year is a really powerful endorsement from the UK public and previous winners saw huge increases in sales as a result of being voted the best in the UK so we're keeping our fingers crossed."
